US president threatens to sue US newspaper for publishing details of lurid letter he allegedly wrote to deceased sex offender in 2003.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

United States President Donald Trump has asked Attorney General Pam Bondi to request a court release grand jury testimony in the Jeffrey Epstein case, as uproar over the controversy widens.<\/p>\n

The case of deceased high-profile sex offender Epstein has dominated news recently after the Trump administration reversed course last week on its pledge to release documents it had suggested contained damning revelations about Epstein and his alleged elite clientele.<\/p>\n

That reversal enraged many of Trump\u2019s most loyal followers<\/a> and prompted allegations that his administration is covering up lurid details of Epstein\u2019s crimes to protect rich and powerful figures.<\/p>\n

Trump himself had been associated with Epstein and once called him a friend.<\/p>\n

\u201cBased on the ridiculous amount of publicity given to Jeffrey Epstein, I have asked Attorney General Pam Bondi to produce any and all pertinent Grand Jury testimony, subject to Court approval. This SCAM, perpetuated by the Democrats, should end, right now!\u201d Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform late on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Shortly after Trump\u2019s statement, Attorney General Bondi said on social media that the Justice Department was ready to ask the court on Friday to unseal the grand jury transcripts.<\/p>\n

\u201cPresident\u00a0Trump\u00a0\u2013 we are ready to move the court tomorrow to unseal the grand jury transcripts,\u201d Bondi wrote.<\/p>\n

The latest development comes just hours after Trump threatened to sue The Wall Street Journal after it published a story about an alleged risque letter he wrote to Epstein that featured a drawing of a naked woman. The WSJ story, which quickly reverberated around the US capital, says the note to Epstein bearing Trump\u2019s signature was part of a collection assembled for Epstein\u2019s 50th birthday in 2003.<\/p>\n

The newspaper said it reviewed the letter but did not print an image.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Editor of The Wall Street Journal\u2026 was told directly by [White House Press Secretary] Karoline Leavitt, and by President Trump, that the letter was a FAKE,\u201d Trump wrote on his social media platform.<\/p>\n

\u201cInstead, they are going with a false, malicious, and defamatory story anyway,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cPresident Trump will be suing The Wall Street Journal, NewsCorp, and Mr. [Rupert] Murdoch, shortly. The Press has to learn to be truthful, and not rely on sources that probably don\u2019t even exist,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The alleged letter, which Trump denies writing, involves several lines of typewritten text, contained in an outline of a naked woman drawn with a marker.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe future president\u2019s signature is a squiggly \u2018Donald\u2019 below her waist, mimicking pubic hair,\u201d the Journal reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe letter concludes: \u2018Happy Birthday \u2014 and may every day be another wonderful secret.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump told the WSJ: \u201cThis is not me. This is a fake thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t draw pictures of women,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s not my language. It\u2019s not my words.\u201d<\/p>\n

Epstein took his own life in a New York prison in 2019 \u2013 during Trump\u2019s first term \u2013 after being charged with sex trafficking in a scheme where he allegedly groomed young and underage women for sexual abuse by the rich and powerful.<\/p>\n

The Trump-supporting far-right has long latched onto the scandal, claiming the existence of a still-secret list of Epstein\u2019s powerful clients and that the late financier was, in fact, murdered in his cell as part of a cover-up.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
