She was last seen in the Karrada district before reports surfaced that Kata\u2019ib Hezbollah had abducted her. Her case remained secret for months until Israel\u2019s prime minister\u2019s office <a href=\"https:\/\/ar.timesofisrael.com\/%D8%AE%D8%B7%D9%81-%D9%85%D8%AD%D9%84%D9%84%D8%A9-%D9%81%D9%8A-%D8%B4%D8%A4%D9%88%D9%86-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B4%D8%B1%D9%82-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A3%D9%88%D8%B3%D8%B7-%D8%AA%D8%AD%D9%85%D9%84-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AC\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">confirmed<\/a> in July 2023 that she had been abducted. It said the Iraqi government was responsible for her safety.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1932\" data-end=\"2289\">The 37-year-old holds both Israeli and Russian passports and had entered Iraq on her Russian travel documents, according to Israeli authorities.<\/p>\n<p data-v-aae4f51f data-v-e580db1b-s>Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani confirmed that Tsurkov had been released and said, \u201cWe reaffirm, once again, that we will not tolerate any compromise in enforcing the law and upholding the authority of the state, nor will we allow anyone to undermine the reputation of Iraq and its people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1932\" data-end=\"2289\">In November 2023, Iraqi state television aired footage of Tsurkov in which she claimed to be working for both Mossad and the CIA, allegations her family rejected as coerced confessions.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2291\" data-end=\"2445\">The precise terms of her release remain unclear. Earlier this year, reports suggested that Washington and Baghdad were engaged in negotiations over her case.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2291\" data-end=\"2445\">There were reports of a possible deal for the release of Tsurkov in January.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2291\" data-end=\"2445\">After Trump\u2019s announcement, her sister Emma Tsurkov, who has campaigned publicly for her freedom, expressed relief in a post on X.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2291\" data-end=\"2445\">\u201cMy entire family is incredibly happy. We cannot wait to see Elizabeth and give her all the love we have been waiting to share for 903 days. We are so thankful to President Trump and his Special Envoy, Adam Boehler.
