These companies can find ways to change conduct, on Kimmel, or there\u2019s going to be additional work for the FCC ahead,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Following news of Kimmel\u2019s cancellation on Nexstar, Carr told The Hollywood Reporter news outlet he wanted to thank the firm \u201cfor doing the right thing\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>At least one other station group had contacted ABC about the Kimmel show, suggesting that an affiliate revolt may have played a role in the decision, an unnamed source told The Hollywood Reporter.<\/p>\n<p>Kimmel\u2019s cancellation is the latest in a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2025\/9\/17\/firings-over-reactions-to-kirk-killing-spark-free-speech-debate-in-the-us\">spate of firings<\/a> over the past week, brought on by a conservative backlash to public comments about Kirk\u2019s killing that have been deemed insensitive.<\/p>\n<p>Conservatives have mourned Kirk as a martyr who championed patriotism, open debate and Christian values.
