We\u2019ve lived in Gaza and experienced Israeli shelling before,\u201d Hamad added.<\/p>\n<p>Israel\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2025\/9\/11\/qatar-holds-funeral-for-victims-of-israeli-attack-amid-regional-solidarity\">killed five Hamas members<\/a> and a Qatari security official while trying to assassinate senior Hamas leaders. Those targeted were involved in negotiating a ceasefire and captives proposal put forward by United States President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe shelling was so intense, the situation was terrifying, and the rockets continued unabated. There were about 12 rockets in less than a minute, but by God\u2019s decree \u2026 we survived this aggression.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hamas said its senior leaders survived the bombardment, which Trump said he was \u201cvery unhappy\u201d about. On Monday, he reiterated his claim that Israel would refrain from launching further attacks on Qatar.<\/p>\n<p>In response to the Israeli attack \u2013 its first on Qatar \u2013 leaders of Arab and Islamic nations convened in Doha for an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2025\/9\/16\/qatar-hosts-arab-islamic-emergency-summit-who-said-what\">emergency summit<\/a>, denouncing what they called Israel\u2019s \u201ccowardly\u201d strike.<\/p>\n<p>However, the gathering concluded without pledges of tangible measures.<\/p>\n<p>Hamad told Al Jazeera that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu\u2019s plan to change the Middle East needed an Arab response.<\/p>\n<p>He also added that Hamas had a \u201cbitter\u201d experience during the ceasefire negotiations, and that the US did not have credibility as an honest broker.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe [Trump] doesn\u2019t scare us,\u201d said Hamad, commenting on threats from Trump concerning the treatment of Israeli captives held in Gaza. Hamad added that the captives were treated \u201caccording to our values\u201d and were only being put in danger as a result of Israel\u2019s actions.<\/p>\n<p>Israeli forces have killed more than 65,000 people since October 2023, including some 19,000 children, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, a United Nations inquiry announced that Israel\u2019s war on Gaza <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2025\/9\/16\/first-head-of-united-nations-body-declares-israels-gaza-war-a-genocide\">is a genocide<\/a>, a finding several major human rights groups have also reached, including Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch.<\/p>\n<p>In 2023, South Africa brought a case before the International Court of Justice, arguing that Israel\u2019s actions in the Gaza Strip amounted to genocide.
