But what happened has nothing to do with that \u2026The fire is of a technological nature.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile,\u00a0Ukrainian President\u00a0Volodymyr Zelenskyy has warned that the situation at the Russian-occupied <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2025\/9\/30\/ukraines-zelenskyy-says-situation-critical-at-zaporizhzhia-nuclear-plant\">Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant<\/a> is \u201ccritical\u201d as the facility has been without power for seven days.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has been seven days now. There has never been anything like this before,\u201d Zelenskyy said in his nightly address on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The Russian-installed management at the nuclear plant said on Wednesday that backup electricity supply at the plant is sufficient, but that resumption of supply via the Dneprovskaya line is impossible due to Ukrainian shelling, Russian state news agency RIA reported.<\/p>\n<p>Rafael Grossi, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), confirmed late on Tuesday that he was \u201cin constant contact with the two sides with the aim to enable the plant\u2019s swift reconnection to the electricity grid\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile the plant is currently coping thanks to its emergency diesel generators \u2014 the last line of defence \u2014 and there is no immediate danger as long as they keep working, it is clearly not a sustainable situation in terms of nuclear safety,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>More than 350 people have been rescued after the southern Ukrainian city was hit by two months of rain in just seven hours.
