Both are currently staying inside the French embassy in Tehran, and Paris has repeatedly pressed for their return.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1234\" data-end=\"1565\">The Paris meeting comes as Tehran has signalled it sees little urgency in resuming indirect talks with the United States over the future of its nuclear programme.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1234\" data-end=\"1565\">Earlier this month, Iran declared it was \u201cnot in a hurry\u201d to restart negotiations, despite mounting pressure following the return of United Nations sanctions and growing economic strain.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1567\" data-end=\"2004\">Araghchi reiterated that position in an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2025\/11\/3\/iran-not-in-hurry-to-resume-nuclear-talks-with-us\">interview<\/a> with Al Jazeera, saying Tehran remained open to dialogue if Washington approaches talks \u201cfrom an equal position based on mutual interest\u201d.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1567\" data-end=\"2004\">He dismissed reported US conditions \u2013 including demands for direct talks, zero enrichment, restrictions on missile capabilities, and curbs on support for regional allies \u2013 as \u201cillogical and unfair\u201d.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2006\" data-end=\"2085\">\u201cIt appears they are not in a hurry,\u201d he said. \u201cWe are not in a hurry, either.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2087\" data-end=\"2451\">Tehran\u2019s top diplomat also argued that regional politics are shifting in Iran\u2019s favour.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2087\" data-end=\"2451\">Referring to the Israeli prime minister, he said: \u201cI sometimes tell my friends that Mr [Benjamin] Netanyahu is a war criminal who has committed every atrocity, but did something positive in proving to the entire region that Israel is the main enemy, not Iran, and not any other country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2453\" data-end=\"2678\">A planned sixth round of indirect US\u2013Iran nuclear talks collapsed in June after Israel <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/opinions\/2025\/6\/13\/israel-may-have-just-pushed-iran-across-the-nuclear-line\">attacked<\/a> Iranian nuclear sites, triggering a 12-day war that killed more than 1,000 people in Iran and caused billions of dollars in damage.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2453\" data-end=\"2678\">The two sides reached a ceasefire after the US bombed three Iranian nuclear sites: Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2453\" data-end=\"2678\">US President Donald Trump in 2018 unilaterally withdrew from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a deal between the US, Iran, France, Germany, Russia, the United Kingdom, China and the European Union that saw Tehran curtail its nuclear programme in exchange for sanctions relief.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2453\" data-end=\"2678\">Iran has since continued to violate provisions of the agreement, arguing that the US withdrawal has nullified the deal.
