X claimed to have \u201czero tolerance for any forms of child sexual exploitation, non-consensual nudity, and unwanted sexual content\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>X\u2019s Grok faces investigations and bans from regulators and governments around the world following a deluge of sexualised AI images on the platform in recent weeks.<\/p>\n<p>The chatbot\u2019s \u201cspicy mode\u201d allowed users to create deepfakes with prompts including \u201cput her in a bikini\u201d and \u201cremove her clothes\u201d. Users have wielded the feature to post AI-generated images of women and children without their consent.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced an investigation into \u201cwhether and how xAI violated the law\u201d in \u201cfacilitating the large-scale production\u201d of deepfakes used to harass women and girls, including \u201cchildren in nude and sexually explicit situations\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Bonta said an \u201cavalanche of reports\u201d prompted the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>The United Kingdom\u2019s media regulator Ofcom launched its own investigation on Monday, while French ministers said they had referred Grok-generated sexual content to prosecutors and media regulator Arcom.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia was the first country to temporarily <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2026\/1\/10\/indonesia-blocks-access-to-musks-ai-chatbot-grok-over-deepfake-images\">block access<\/a> to Grok earlier this week amid concern over rising deepfake attacks, while Malaysia also <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2026\/1\/12\/malaysia-blocks-musks-grok-amid-uproar-over-non-consensual-sexual-images\">banned the chatbot<\/a> and said it planned to pursue legal action against X.<\/p>\n<p>The European Commission extended a retention order sent to X last year to retain and preserve all internal documents and data related \u2060to Grok until the end of 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Hours before announcing the safety measures, far-right billionaire Musk <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/economy\/2026\/1\/14\/musk-denies-knowledge-of-grok-producing-sexualised-images-of-minors\">claimed on X<\/a> that he was \u201cnot aware of any naked underage images generated by Grok.
