The UN\u2019s Assistance Mission in Afghanistan has reported 42 deaths.<\/p>\n<p>Pakistan has not commented on Afghan civilian casualties.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesman for Afghanistan\u2019s Defence Ministry estimated Pakistani fatalities among troops at around 150, while Pakistan says more than 430 Afghan soldiers have been killed.<\/p>\n<p>Al Jazeera has not been able to verify casualty claims from either side.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the UN\u2019s World Food Programme (WFP) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfp.org\/news\/wfp-warns-deepening-crisis-afghanistan-insecurity-flares-eastern-southern-and-western-border\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">warned earlier this week<\/a> that residents of more than 46 districts across Afghanistan already faced \u201csevere food insecurity\u201d before the intensified fighting broke out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAcross these provinces, WFP has been forced to temporarily suspend emergency, social protection, school feeding and livelihood activities,\u201d the agency said on Tuesday.\u00a0\u201cApproximately 160,000 people have been impacted by the suspension of emergency food distributions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In Kunar province in the northeast of the country, a 30-year-old labourer told the AFP news agency that the violence had prevented people from getting to the market.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThousands of families have left the village\u201d of Sirkanay, said Asadullah, who only gave one name.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn some houses, only one person has stayed to guard the home, and the rest have left,\u201d he said. \u201cThe village has become empty.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>United Nations migration agency warns that escalating violence on Afghanistan-Pakistan border risks further displacement.
