It was not immediately clear what shape possible future alliances might take.<\/p>\n<p>Golob expressed confidence that his party will form the next government, though he acknowledged that \u201ctough negotiations lie ahead\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince we have received the [people\u2019s] confidence, now we can think about going forward under a free sun,\u201d Golob said at his party\u2019s headquarters.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, as he voted, Golob, 59, called on citizens to cast their ballots.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDemocracy and Slovenia\u2019s sovereignty cannot be taken for granted any more,\u201d he told reporters.<\/p>\n<p>Jansa predicted that \u201cthere will not be much [political] stability\u201d after the ballot.<\/p>\n<p>The opposition party leader has served as prime minister three times, most recently from 2020 to 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Upon voting on Sunday, Golob warned that the \u201cdemocracy and sovereignty\u201d of Slovenia can no longer be taken for granted. He urged voters to \u201cnot let others decide instead of you. Go out and vote.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jansa said the election amounted to a \u201creferendum on whether the people can take back the state.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of the vote, the election had been marred by controversy after a report last week alleged that Jansa met with officials from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2026\/3\/20\/slovenia-heads-to-polls-with-diverging-views-on-israel-in-focus\">Israeli spy firm Black Cube<\/a> in December.<\/p>\n<p>Golob told journalists after the report: \u201cThe fact that \u2026 foreign services are interfering in the elections of a democratic member state of the European Union is something unheard of.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The nearly equal result means that none of the main parties will have a majority in the 90-member parliament.
