Their demands hardened after federal agents fatally shot two US citizens, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2026\/1\/25\/who-was-alex-pretti-the-nurse-shot-dead-by-federal-agents-in-minneapolis\">Alex Pretti<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2026\/1\/8\/who-is-renee-nicole-good-the-woman-killed-in-the-ice-minneapolis-shooting\">Renee Good<\/a>, during immigration raids in Minneapolis in January.<\/p>\n<p>Democrat Senator Dick Durbin said his party had attempted nine times to pass emergency funding for DHS entities including the TSA, the US Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the Coast Guard.
