At least 100,000 people still live here,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese hospitals are really a lifeline for these people, but some of them, those who are injured, don\u2019t make it because the road is a long journey to reach these hospitals and people are still in villages further south.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, 13 people were killed in attacks on towns in the south, including two Lebanese Civil Defence paramedics, Hussein Jaber and Ahmad Noura, according to Lebanon\u2019s Ministry of Public Health.<\/p>\n<p>The ministry <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/video\/newsfeed\/2026\/5\/8\/al-jazeera-reporter-witnesses-israeli-strikes-on-lebanon\">reported<\/a> that at least 380 people have been killed during the truce, bringing the total death toll since the Israeli invasion and bombardment began on March 2 to more than 2,800.<\/p>\n<p>It also said on Monday that 108 emergency medical services and healthcare workers had been killed in Lebanon during the war, with more than 140 Israeli attacks recorded on ambulances and medical facilities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll of this is having a huge impact here on the communities in southern Lebanon,\u201d Al Jazeera\u2019s Obaida Hitto said from Tyre. \u201cAnd there is a growing humanitarian crisis, with over a million people displaced.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4568223\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4568223\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/2026-05-13T082601Z_378692327_RC288LAVGM0W_RTRMADP_3_IRAN-CRISIS-LEBANON-ISRAEL-1778666510.jpg?w=770&#038;resize=770%2C513&#038;quality=80\" alt=\"Rescuers work at the site of an Israeli strike on a car in Jiyeh\" fetchpriority=\"low\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4568223\">Rescuers work at the site of an Israeli strike on a car in Jiyeh [Reuters]<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two children among those killed after three strikes hit cars on the highway in Jiyeh, south of Beirut, Lebanon\u2019s Ministry of Health said.
