It posted a photograph of the ship showing its name with one of its sides partially charred.<\/p>\n<p>Russia has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2026\/4\/27\/russia-attacks-odesa-claims-ukraine-hit-zaporizhzhia-nuclear-plant\">regularly attacked civilian vessels<\/a> in the port area of Odesa, a vital maritime hub for Ukrainian agricultural exports, since it <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/video\/between-us\/2026\/2\/24\/russia-ukraine-four-years-of-war\">invaded Ukraine four years ago<\/a>. Monday\u2019s attack comes just before Putin\u2019s two-day trip to Beijing, where he is to have talks with Chinese President Xi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDrones struck Odesa and one of the UAVs [unmanned aerial vehicles] hit a vessel owned by China,\u201d Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a post on social media. \u201cThe Russians could not have been unaware of what vessel was at sea.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A spokesman for Ukraine\u2019s navy told the AFP news agency that none of the crew \u2013 all Chinese citizens \u2013 was wounded and that the Chinese-owned vessel continued on its journey while a source told the Reuters news agency that \u2060the Deyang was without cargo at the time of the attack as it was heading to load iron ore concentrate \u2060in Ukraine\u2019s Pivdennyi port in the Odesa region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ship was entering for loading. After it was hit at night by a Shahed, the crew coped with the consequences on their own.
