He also accused Israel of provoking the attack in an attempt to \u201cdrag Europe into its war\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine said it had targeted a Russian warship and vessels used for transporting Iranian-linked military cargo in the Caspian Sea.<\/p>\n<p>In \u2060his comments, Sybiha said Ukraine\u2019s \u2060actions were \u201caimed solely at defending our country from Russian aggression and never intended to target civilian vessels or people\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In more than four years \u2060of conflict with Russia, Ukraine has faced barrages of Iranian-designed drones.<\/p>\n<p>Kyiv has, \u2060over that time, developed technology to \u2060counter drone threats and has offered its assistance to countries in the Middle East facing strikes by Tehran in response to US and Israeli attacks on Iran this year.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon \u200cSaar wrote on X that he had spoken to Sybiha and \u201cdiscussed the challenges facing our nations, including \u200cthe threat posed by Iran\u201d. He said he looked forward to deepening cooperation with Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>Both Ukrainian President <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2026\/7\/28\/ukraines-zelenskyy-hails-good-meeting-with-trump-at-white-house\">Volodymyr Zelenskyy<\/a> and Israeli Prime Minister <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2026\/7\/28\/trump-expresses-frustration-with-netanyahu-before-white-house-meeting\">Benjamin Netanyahu<\/a> visited the White House for separate meetings with US President Donald Trump on Tuesday, as the wars in Europe and the Middle East continue.<\/p>\n<p>Senior Iranian lawmaker Ebrahim Azizi, head of parliament\u2019s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, warned on Saturday that \u201cany attack on Iran always comes with a cost, and that remains true today; the US and Israel are well aware of this\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUkraine, too, may soon come to understand that Iran does not let actions go unanswered,\u201d Azizi added, calling the attack in the Caspian Sea \u201cmiscalculated\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kyiv claims its Caspian Sea strike targeted Russian warships, denying intent to harm civilian vessels or individuals.
